A: (announcer\/commentator) Welcome to tonight’s basketball game, right now you can see the players warming up.<\/p>\n
(H and L pass B-ball around)<\/p>\n
J: I hope our team gets a hole-in-one tonight.<\/p>\n
M: We’re watching basketball, Josh<\/p>\n
J: A touchdown, then.<\/p>\n
M: There are no hole-in-ones or touchdowns in basketball.<\/p>\n
J: Goal!<\/p>\n
M: (sighs) TV, channel up.<\/p>\n
A: Welcome to … ( dramatically) the game show! The rules are simple. Try to win.<\/p>\n
(L and H sitting at desks)<\/p>\n
L: Can I ask a question?<\/p>\n
A: ( points to L) (cheerfully) You just did! Now let’s begin.<\/p>\n
A: What is your favourite colour?<\/p>\n
H: Green!<\/p>\n
A: Aaw, so close, the answer was airplane.<\/p>\n
J: I knew it!<\/p>\n
M: What?! (looks confused)<\/p>\n
A: What’s the square root of platypus?<\/p>\n
L: 42.<\/p>\n
A: It was banana…<\/p>\n
M: This doesn’t even make sense. TV channel up.<\/p>\n
(A and H are talking together) (without inflection)<\/p>\n
H: My nose is runny. I need some medicine. It’s called Cold-Away!<\/p>\n
A: Try this new medicine. (Holds up package.) It works for me anytime and every time I’m sick.<\/p>\n
H: Whoah, I need that!<\/p>\n

J: What a great deal!<\/p>\n
M: That’s a horrible deal. And are you even sick?<\/p>\n

M: (face palm) TV, channel up.<\/p>\n
H: (clapping) (smiling) Welcome to happy-learning-time!<\/p>\n
L: Yaaay!<\/p>\n
H: Let’s practice counting to ten!<\/p>\n
H: (clapping on each number) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Now your turn!<\/p>\n
(L starts counting silently)<\/p>\n
J: 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 7, 12, 7, 10 (pauses) um, 7!<\/p>\n
H: You did it! Good job.<\/p>\n
J: Yay, I did good.<\/p>\n
M: TV off, ugh! I think I’ll just go play a board game or something.<\/p>\n
(M leaves)<\/p>\n
J: Can I come?<\/p>\n
